QUESTIONS
How does tutoring/mentoring work?

Tutors/mentors work through their Psychademics accounts to help answer questions in the course/mentoring chats or through one-on-one sessions. You may choose a student to help by looking through active chats (chats with the thumbs up icon have already been completed). The amount of time that you spend helping students is entirely up to you; there are no schedules or deadlines!

Who can I tutor/mentor?

You are only permitted to help students with topics that you are experienced with.  To be eligible to tutor a course, you must have already completed it and earned an A in the class. Once your courses have been verified by transcript, they will be updated in our records. Tutoring volunteering hours will only be gained for eligible courses!

Mentors are welcome to connect with all students. We encourage you to help students with topics that you have experienced with. The goal of mentorship is to offer support and advice to fellow students.

How are volunteering hours gained?

Each question answered through chat is worth 15 minutes of service. Each one-on-one session is worth 30 minutes of service, but extra time can be earned for sessions that go over 30 minutes (sessions may only go over 30 minutes if both the student and tutor consent). Once a session has been completed, tutors/mentors are expected to report their hours through the volunteering log. Each month, active tutors/mentors will receive email updates on their volunteering progress and how many hours they have earned. For official community service/volunteer hour verifcation, please email info.psychademics@gmail.com for a certificate.
